PERSONALITY
Genoveva is a fairly self-serving character. While not entirely detrimental, at least not anymore, she tends to put her own interests over anyone else's. In her eyes, the only time that this rule wouldn't apply is with her biological children. Makes sense, however; she would consider them a literal extension of herself. Gotta protect her own.
This doesn't mean that she's self-centered or haughty (without reason) in the slightest. Through a great deal of trial and error, she's learned to shake herself of her narrow-minded world view and come to terms with the fact that she isn't the center of the universe anywhere, any time, or any place. However, this little metaphorical step-back forced her into a fairly cynical world view. For anyone besides uninfluenced children, she immediately suspects the worst of. Gen believes that deep, deep down, others are as self-serving as she is on some level or another.
Some of her most desirable traits involve her innate sophistication. Even as a mainly feral viscet, she believes in representing herself in the best way possible in her little niche. Whether that way be through her actions, mannerisms or words, she strives to make each and every step she takes as poised as possible. She's charismatic where it counts: if it's in her best interest to act as charming and sweet as she can in a given situation, you'll see her being the one to command the attention of her so called "target" and seamlessly flow her way in or out of a situation. Her power of persuasion (link) only commands a fraction of this little trait. Her charisma is all her.
In her forest, she's seen by locals and visitors alike as a keenly perceptive sentinel watching over her territory. She's nicknamed "The Sphynx of Osa," and for good reason. Camouflaged on the forest floor, or in the canopy, it's surprisingly spectacular to see her cat-like stance, head raised (or even lowered) proudly, and deceptively lax as her fur disguises the corded muscle and self-power running through her veins. To add to her image, she can be seen with small children as she calms them with her mere presence, but she tends to move away from adults.

Her intelligence is one trait of hers that she values the most. While she views the world logically, her smarts don't lie in the realm of purely numbers. Instead, she values her strategic and worldly mindset. She's shrewd, efficient, and pragmatic in everything that she does. Nearly all of her actions go through some sort of filter or are planned down to the last detail. She prides herself in making it seem like her every action is effortless. And after all these years of practice, sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
One trait instinctive to her that she's found to be the most vital, though, is her centered nature. She doesn't really outwardly react strongly to terrible or harsh situations because she tries to let any fear she feels disperse. Her little trick is to not let any fear or anger bottle up inside her. However, it's not a perfect system. For this reason, she surprisingly doesn't hold grudges well. That doesn't make her kind in the nice sense, however. She just finds long-lasting resentment to be petty and a waste of time. Because of this, she's the type of viscet that you'd want in a high stress situation. She's stolid, acts placating and influential where it counts, and tries to remain as level-headed as she can. Again, though: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
However, even with such an attractive personality, her less than nice traits end up seeming that much more harsh in comparison. Almost like a lightning strike or the flash of a predator's claws; just as quick to leave as it is to come, searing during it, and with a lingering, sour taste and a gaping wound.
Her most glaring flaw is her possessive and covetous nature. Not necessarily towards others (she has no desire to "keep" a person) but more towards her possessions, territory, and her body. She doesn't like to share and tries to avoid it whenever possible. This has led her to not being able to keep a mate or any real close friends, because she prefers to take and take instead of give. She can act like she doesn't mind sharing, but that's all that it is. An act.
She's also surprisingly finicky as well. When it comes to food she doesn't go for overly sugary things and detests unctuous meals. As for other creatures, she chooses who she befriends with a fine tooth comb. She understands that weakness is inevitable, but she honestly shies away from inherently weak personas and pushovers. In this way, she doesn't really attract the nicest creatures. And, honestly, she avoids anyone who grates on her nerves.
Gen's actions almost always has an ulterior motive behind it. One would argue that this isn't always necessarily a bad thing, but she rarely does anything out of any goodness of her heart. When others find out about this, it tends to be off-putting. But why wouldn't it? Wouldn't you find it offensive if someone that helps you doesn't do it for your sake?
When truly angry (since her regular anger is usually just irritation in different amounts) , Gen becomes biting and all around acidic to the object of her ire. She's also fairly caustic when scorned, and coupled with a mean streak means that she seeks to dish out short term revenge that she makes linger for the offender. However, if left to stew, her anger does lessen and she actually does let it go. But, as inwardly mischievous as she is, Gen just finds another excuse to get back at the other person. She quote on quote "forgives," but she never forgets.
Her inwardly teasing nature isn't always the most light-hearted since it's uncommon for it to show under her projected elegance. She can be fairly devilish if she goes too far, and roguish in her actions as well when she's goading someone. There are even times when she strikes out for no outward reason at all since she's morbidly provocative. While not necessarily opinionated about harsh topics, Gen likes to see others' reactions. She finds it fascinating to see how strongly people would react to a misplaced rumor or word without straying into any blatant territory. As quickly as she can calm down a situation, she can also rile one up.
But, even with such a complex set of traits that label her as too unpredictable to touch, she can be kind. She's an introvert at heart, and the quiet moments calm her to the point where she's willing to coexist with another and weave genuine and gentle words into their ear or actions into their heart to show that, really, she's not all that bad.
